A smartphone said to be Samsung’s (005930) next-generation Galaxy S IV has been revealed in a hands-on video published by the same source who previously leaked still images of the phone. The new Samsung handset pictured in the video lines up with earlier rumors and appears to match a teaser image published late Monday by Samsung. The Galaxy S IV is expected to feature a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution, an eight-core Exynos chipset, up to 64GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and new touch-free control features that work by tracking the user’s eyes. One X is powered by a 1.5 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor and is backed by 1 GB of RAM. The hone comes with a 16 GB internal memory option. But unfortunately the phone is missing a slot for a microSD card. This means that there is nothing much one can do about the memory space. It functions on Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich operating system.

4. Samsung Galaxy S III

Yet another flagship smartphone to figure on the list is Galaxy S III from Samsung. From the day it was released till date S III is hitting jack pot after jack pot. In fact in many surveys S III has actually managed to dislodge Apple’s iPhone from the number 1 slot.

The smartphone comes with a gigantic 4.8 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Like HTC One X this smartphone also comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection.  Galaxy S III is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad core cortex Exynos processor.

The phone functions on Android 4.1 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, but recently Samsung has rolled out updates to Jelly Bean operating system. The phone comes with three memory variants; 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB with a slot for the microSD card that allow the user to expand the memory up to 64 GB.

When compared to its predecessor, the new iPhone is up to 18 per cent thinner and along with that it is 20 per cent lighter. It comes with an 8 mega pixel camera. The phone also boats of a Panorama picture capture mode.  The secondary front facing camera comes with specification of 1.2 mega pixels.

2. Samsung Galaxy Note 2

The Samsung Note 2 comes with a 5.5 inch HD Super AMOLED touch screen which automatically puts this gadget in the phablet section. The screen boasts of a resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad core A-9 Cortex Exynos processor backed by 2 GB of RAM.

The phablet functions on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

When it was initially launched it faced a lot of criticism with its size but slowly with its specifications it won over the audience and in two months Samsung sold 5 million units of the gadget.  It features an 8 mega pixel camera which comes with features like auto focus and LED flash. It also comes with a 1.9 mega pixel front facing camera that allows the user to make video calls.

The Note 2 also comes with the Popup Note feature which allows the user to open the S Note instantly in the form of a pop up window on your screen.

1. LG Optimus Vu
Price: 30,500


The flagship smartphone from LG; Optimus Vu comes with a 5 inch HD-IPS LCD capacitive touch screen  with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. The smartphone is powered by a 1.5 GHz Nvidia Tegra which is backed by 1 GB of RAM. the phone boats of 32 GB of internal storage but it is missing a microSD slot.

The smartphone functions on Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system which will soon see an update to Jelly Bean operating system according to LG. It has an 8 megapixel rear camera with features like autofocus and LED flash. It also comes with a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera which allows the users to make video calls.

LG has till now been launching devices at frequent intervals while keeping its fans happy. Now, with its new flagship device LG Optimus Vu, LG’s fans are certainly in for a treat.


Samsung Galaxy S II Plus and Galaxy S III Mini may land in Q4

ImageSamsung seems to be planning to capitalise on the success of two of its very popular smartphones by launching their variants. This not the first time that Samsung is doing this, it launched several variant of Galaxy S too.


Dubbed as Samsung Galaxy S II Plus and Galaxy S III Mini, these smartphones are rumoured to arrive in the last quarter of this calendar year.


According to online reports as well as product listing at Chile telecom operator website, the Galaxy S II Plus will come with Android 4.0, 4.52-inch display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera and 16GB of internal storage.


On the other hand, Galaxy S III Mini will sport 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, 5MP camera and a dual core processor.


The online reports also suggest that Galaxy S III Mini will cost around $200, while S II Plus will retail for $250-350. We are yet to see an image of Galaxy S III Mini, but Galaxy S II Plus has been leaked in the above press shot.


Samsung, which emerged as the world’s top smartphone maker last year, said in February that sales of Galaxy S II topped 20 million handsets since its launch in April last year. The Galaxy S II sports a 1 GHz dual-core processor, 8 MP camera, 1080p video camcorder, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 n, DLNA, HDMI out and support HSPA+ network. The phone shipped with Android 2.3 to start with, but company recently started rolling out the Android 4.0 update. New units of the Galaxy S II are shipping with Android 4.0 update.


On the other hand, company’s latest flagship smartphone Galaxy S III has already sold more than 10 million units worldwide. It comes with Android 4.0, 1.4GHz quad core processor, 8MP rear camera, front camera, 1GB RAM and 4.65-inch 720p display. We are also hearing the company plans to release a black version of the device very soon.
